Hidden away in a food court on the top (third) floor of Market City shopping Centre (on top of Paddy’s Market in Chinatown) is the wonderful Leonardo’s – Sandwiches &Coffee.
While it sells sandwiches, wraps, cakes and such like that’s not why I go there. This is a great place for a tasty, fast, cheap and cheerful hot English breakfast if you are staying in the area.
Not in the slightest luxurious, you eat on large tables in the food court but great if you are in a hurry and want a hearty breakfast fry for A$9 (2016) and that includes a choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or a juice.
As you can see from my attached picture the fry-up consists of two eggs, bacon, sausage, fried tomato and toast. The only negative is that the toast comes pre-buttered and they overdo the butter – I guess you could ask for less or none. Most other places around you will pay over A$15 for the same thing.
While the Market City web site states Leonardo’s opening hours as 10am-7pm daily I have eaten breakfast here as early as 7am and never later than 9am.
Great value breakfast for the busy tourist on the run who doesn’t want to spend half the morning lingering over breakfast. The coffee is quite good too.
